Sharon Jervis founded the Gambian Children’s Fund in 2005 after a life-changing trip to The Gambia, which included a visit to Joyce’s International School in Kunkajang—a small school serving just 40 children at the time, run by local educators Ismaila Sassy and Joyce.
Inspired by the school’s mission and potential, Sharon felt compelled to take action and established GCF to help address the lack of state-funded primary and nursery education in The Gambia
