Patricia brings four decades of educational expertise to the board of the Gambian Children Fund, where she will support efforts to enhance learning opportunities for the children of Kunkunjang. She is dedicated to working alongside educators to develop programs that strengthen core knowledge and foster a lasting enthusiasm for learning.

Her professional journey began in London’s diverse multilingual classrooms, where she taught mathematics before moving into teacher education. As a university course tutor, she designed curriculum development programs and facilitated professional development for practicing secondary and primary teachers. A focus of her work is the challenge of making concepts and ideas accessible in ways children can grasp. This requires creating problem-solving activities that motivate and develop students’ thinking and analytical skills.

Patricia’s rare dual expertise has been deepening teachers’ mathematics knowledge while simultaneously supporting both teachers and learners in developing English language proficiency. Patricia’s approach to teaching and learning is integral to her work as an international educational consultant and will be tailored to support The Gambia’s unique educational context.

Patricia believes passionately in education’s power to strengthen communities and views investment in children’s learning and well-being as fundamental to national development. She looks forward to collaborating with the Board to advance its mission of preparing Gambian students for the future by expanding equitable access to quality education. A visionary educator and strategist, her goal is to partner directly with Gambian teachers to co-create innovative learning programs designed to transform education for the children of Kunkunjang.

She will drive support for grassroots projects that merge modern teaching methods with cultural relevance, ensuring education is rooted in community identity and social action rather than imported. Beyond pedagogy, Patricia is committed to mobilising resources for tangible change: modernising school infrastructure, providing vital materials, and ensuring schools in Kunkunjang not only meet but exceed national standards, becoming benchmarks of excellence within The Gambia’s evolving education landscape.
